Ok, je repond en anglais, j'espere que ca ne choque pas les auditeurs ...

Thot is built with our own version of the Motif 2.0 Library. We took the
sources, hacked a lot to be stable on linux and X11R6 and use it for our
developments. Now the fact is that nor X11R6 nor Linux are supported platforms
for the official Motif 2.0 source code. So nothing ensure us that if we
use Motif dynamic libraries, the result will be Ok with user's one purchased
from MooTiff . And I don't want to spend too much time on problems related to
dynamic libraries on the client side, just have a look at people trying to
distribute dynamic linked software for Suns machines ...

Last time I checked out the LessTiff package (February I think) the
state of the project was far from being Ok to compile Thot. These we just
too many unresolved references from the includes file.
Since they turned their WWW home page to a Java script, and since I
don't want to install Java runtime for Netscape on my machine I was unable
to keep track of their progresses.

Last but not least, we are working on removing the Motif package from
our products, using Tcl/Tk instead. Things will be easier for everybody,
but we are not abble now to predict when this will take place in the Thot
distribution.
